Today, our university was honored by the visit of Ing. Zuzana Zlámalová, Executive Director of the International Education Society (IES), who personally delivered official promotional materials and display boards confirming that VŠAPs has been awarded international certification by IES London and a Certificate of Quality by ICI.
We are pleased to announce that the Chair of the Ethics Committee at the College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs), Peter Kondrla, was appointed Professor in the field of Ethics on June 5, 2025. The official appointment ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava, where the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, appointed a total of 24 new university professors.
Representatives of VŠAPs met with the leadership of our partner institution, the University of St. Cyril and Methodius (UCM) in Trnava, to discuss the expansion of mutual cooperation in research, academic publishing, and international projects.
We are pleased to announce that Ing. Radmila Trnková Lorencová, Ph.D., a lecturer at VŠAPs, was a keynote speaker at the international conference First-Person Science of Consciousness 2025, held from May 15 to 17 at Alanus University in Mannheim, Germany.
On the occasion of the conference and accompanying festival "Na mou duši", held in Terezín with nearly 300 students, experts, educators, and guests in attendance, the Rector of the College of Applied Psychology, PhDr. Mgr. Štefan Medzihorský, ceremoniously presented the Rector’s Award to three exceptional women for their significant contributions to the professional, publishing, and international activities of the university in the 2024/2025 academic year.
The College of Applied Psychology continues to expand its international activities. A recent example is the participation of Professor Patrik Maturkanič at the international scientific conference Reminiscences of Religious, Ethical and Social Values in a Historical Context, held on 9–11 April 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs) is fulfilling its strategic goal of creating an academic environment that meets the standards of public universities and of promoting high-quality conditions for both study and research. In this spirit, two new advisory bodies have been established: the Ethics Committee and the Council for Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality.
Leona Hrtánková, a second-year student at VŠAPs, is currently spending a study semester in Malta, where she is engaged in intensive English language learning and exploring intercultural psychology in practice. In a heartfelt letter, she shared her impressions and experiences – and we believe her words may serve as an inspiration for other students considering a similar journey.
On March 28, 2025, the College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs) signed a cooperation agreement with the Town of Most. The aim of this partnership is to connect academic education and research with the needs of the region and its residents.
The College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs) has once again actively engaged in the international academic discourse. Three of our Lecturers —Prof. ThDr. Patrik Maturkanič, PhD., Mgr. Kateřina Valachová, Ph.D., and PhDr. Mgr. Štefan Medzihorský—along with students Jevgenij Sazankov and Jana Veselá, presented at the international scientific conference "Wolność dana i zadana człowiekowi" (Freedom Given and Assigned to Man), which took place online on March 18, 2025, in Stalowa Wola, Poland.
We keep up with trends and innovate our teaching! Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, we are making a change to the VŠAPs study plan – introducing a new course "Practical Use of AI Tools", replacing the previous Seminar for Annual Thesis.
Two lecturers and one student from the College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs) participated in the international conference "The Value of Authority and Its Role in Shaping Individuals," organized by the Wyższa Szkoła Ekonomiczna in Stalowa Wola, Poland, on February 11. 2025. The hybrid-format conference provided a platform for expert discussions on how authority influences individuals and society in various contexts.
The Vice-Rector for Development and External Relations at VŠAPs, Doc. PhDr. Dr.phil. Laura Janáčková, CSc., has published her fifth book on relationships, 10 Rules of Love and You Won't Have Wrinkles. The official book launch took place on February 14, symbolically on Valentine's Day, the celebration of love.

We are proud to present the book "Teaching Metaphors", written by our esteemed educator Dr. Jan Gruber. This unconventional guide is designed for anyone involved in teaching and seeking fresh approaches to revitalize their lessons and tailor them to the needs of today's learners.
Our Project Lab at the College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs) in Terezín has become the birthplace of a unique initiative, Defend Yourself!, which combines practical self-defense skills with the psychology of conflict. This project is designed for the general public – from children to seniors – offering a safe environment to practice techniques that can make a critical difference in crisis situations.
At the Presidential Palace in Bratislava, Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová officially appointed 39 new university professors. Among them was the current Vice-Rector of the College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs), now Professor Patrik Maturkanič. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to him.
In the second half of February 2024, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the College of Applied Psychology (VŠAPs) and the International Black Sea University in Tbilisi. The rectors of both partner institutions agreed on mutual collaboration, a commitment further emphasized by the participation of our Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Milan Fiľa, at an international conference held in Tbilisi on October 18-19, 2023.
V druhé polovině roku 2023 vyšlo čtyřem pedagogům Vysoké školy aplikované psychologie v Terezíně (dr. Lorencová, doc. Maturkanič, dr. Antošová a dr. Ivana Tomanová Čergeťová) šest databázovaných zahraničních publikací (Web of Science, Scopus), které i tímto způsobem přispěly k dalšímu vědeckému rozvoji VŠAPs.
Studenti VŠAPs jsou aktivní nejen na výuce v lavicích vysoké školy. V rámci studia mají možnost aktivního zapojení se do dalších příležitostí, které i aktivně využívají.
Rektor VŠAPs v Terezíně, PhDr. Mgr. Štefan Medzihorský a děkan FPEDAS Žilinské univerzity v Žilině, prof. Ing. Miloš Poliak, PhD., podepsali 9. listopadu 2023 zahraniční Smlouvu o spolupráci.
Tři pedagogové VŠAPs (doc. Patrik Maturkanič, doc. Milan Fiľa, dr. Ivana Tomanová Čergeťová) a dvě studentky kombinovaného studia I. a II. ročníku (Jana Veselá, Věra Koubová) se ve dnech 3. a 4. listopadu 2023 aktivně účastnili na mezinárodní vědecké konferenci v Ternopile.
Na konci října 2023 vydala VŠAPs monografii s názvem RÓMOVIA v minulosti a súčasnosti, která se věnuje tradicím, ale především integraci romského způsobu života v propojenosti ostatních kultur.
Vysoká škola aplikované psychologie pokračuje v budování mezinárodních vztahů. Ve dnech 18. - 19.10.2023 spoluorganizovala s domácí International Black Sea University v Tbilisi mezinárodní konferenci Silk Road s podtitulem The South Caucasus and Neighboring Regions and the War in Ukraine: Chances and Risks for Trans-Caspian Transport Routes between China and Europe.
Ve dnech 19. - 20. 9. 2023 se doc. Milan Fiľa, prorektor pro zahraniční spolupráci VŠAPS zúčastnil akce SlovakiaTech FORUM-EXPO. SlovakiaTech FORUM-EXPO je největší mezinárodní odborná konference a inovačně technologický veletrh firem i univerzit a vysokých škol na Slovensku.
Evropská akademicko-plenární diskuse za účasti VŠAPs. Ve dnech 4.-8. září 2023 se na Západoukrajinské národní univerzitě v Ternopile uskutečnil 5th International Week ve formě akademicko-plenárních diskusí.
Výprava České asociace univerzitního sportu se ve dnech 28.7. - 8. 8. 2023 zúčastnila Letních světových univerzitních her (LSUH), které se konaly v čínském Chengdu.
In recent months, several faculty members of VŠAPs have published their research, contributing to the academic and scientific development of their fields. These publications, released both internationally and domestically, reflect their dedication to maintaining the high academic standards of the College of Applied Psychology.
Ve čtvrtek 11. května 2023 se v prostorách VŠAPs v Terezíně uskutečnila celodenní vědecko-odborná konference s mezinárodní účastí na téma Psychologie ekonomického chování v kontextu kulturních změn v 21. století.
V polovině března 2023 uzavřela VŠAPs v Terezíně bilaterální smlouvu se Západoukrajinskou národní univerzitou v Ternopile (West Ukrainian National University). Smlouva byla podepsána na základě předešlé spolupráce čtyř pedagogů VŠAPs, kteří se ve dnech 4. – 5. listopadu 2022 účastnili online mezinárodní vědecko-profesní konference pořádané Západoukrajinskou univerzitou.
